Anton Wilhelm Amo (Afer) was born in today’s Ghana. He grew up in today’s Germany, and he taught philosophy at the universities of Halle, Wittenberg, and Jena in the 1730s. Amo wrote books in Latin. Ny utgave: Boken Globalkunnskap. Renessanse for en ny opplysningstid (Scandinavian Academic Press, 2016), skrevet av idéhistoriker Dag Herbjørnsrud, ble sommeren 2018 utsolgt fra Forlagssentralen. I oktober 2018 er det kommet en ny utgave av boken, som er på over 500 sider og 743 sluttnoter. Tre mindre justeringer er foretatt i andreutgaven, og den nye boken inneholder også utdrag av anmeldelser på baksiden. Omslaget er forøvrig i litt lysere gråsjattering. Info […]

This summer, Peter Adamson (Univ of Munich, Germany) and Chike Jeffers (Dalhousie Univ, Canada) have made an episode on the Ethiopian philosopher Zera Yacob (1599-1693) and his treatise Inquiry (Hatäta, 1667).
